Message from the Chapters Council Chair

These past months have been quite the wild ride. Not much has returned to “normal” and the unknowns are still great, yet we press on to make our buildings, resources and services available to our patrons to whatever degree has been deemed appropriate. I want to wish you all good things when it comes to this unprecedented fall semester.

A few items to remind you of: Please check your spam/junk folders to make sure you’re receiving email from the listserv. Also, please take a second to make sure your chapter roster is up to date. Rosters can be found here. You can send any updates as well as obtain a membership list for your chapter from Program Coordinator Lauren Carlton (lcarlton@ala.org), the list can come in very handy! If you are planning a conference for this year, don’t forget about the Speakers Bureau! Speakers Bureau makes funding available for Executive Committee members to come speak at chapter conferences. Given the current circumstances it is especially important to point out they are available virtually! Visit the site for more information.

I would like to thank all of you who attended our virtual meeting at the end of June. It was great to touch base with everyone. Thank you to our leadership who attended the call to provide us with updates. And finally, thank you to our members who have served in the various positions of Chapters Council as well as our members who are now serving--our roster is now full! Our next meeting will be scheduled for late January/early February, around when virtual ALA Midwinter will be held. Stay tuned for that date to be announced via the listserv. We are also working on a great program to include as part of the meeting!

If you, or anyone in your chapter’s membership, have any thoughts about issues you’d like Chapters Council to take up, please contact us. Chapters Council is the conduit between the leadership and the chapters, so your concerns are our concerns.
