The ACRL New England Chapter Redesigns Its Website

The ACRL New England Chapter is pleased to announce the redesign of its website. This redesign consolidates numerous separate sites for the special interest groups (SIGs), Executive Board and annual conferences (now hosted in ScholarWorks) into a single, one-stop-shop for the whole Chapter.

The new site is mobile-ready and  brings back the highly-desired Events Calendar.  Behind the scenes, this new web platform reduces the overall required maintenance and increases security, all while providing the flexibility the Chapter needs to stay innovative and engaging with its Membership.

For more information on this new site release, contact the ACRL/NEC Webmaster, Ian Walls.

Illinois Library Association Annual Conference - 2017

These are the slides from a speech that Jan Chindlund, Dean of the Library at
Columbia College Chicago, gave at the IACRL Luncheon during the 2017 Illinois Library Association Annual Conference. In the speech, she discusses the programs and initiatives that contributed to the Columbia College Chicago Library’s selection for the 2017 ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award. Chindlund emphasizes throughout the speech that these activities help meet Columbia College’s mission of creating a rich cultural experience for students, through both their studie

s on campus and their engagement with the broader fine arts scene in Chicago.  She also focuses on the collaborative spirit, across campus departments and with outside community organizations, that has made many of these programs possible. Regarding ACRL, specifically, she details the steps that the Columbia College Library staff has taken to implement the recent recommendation of the Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education, especially by creating an active learning environment in which students, outside faculty, and librarians can freely exchange knowledge and ideas.
