Her dissertation, Flourishing in the Infosphere, explores how outcomes such as confidence, belonging, and connectedness in library programming build social and emotional equity in students' lives both in and out of the classroom. Kate has extensive leadership experiences at the university, state, and national level. At WMU, she was elected to the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) WMU Chapter executive committee and served as the Contract Administrator and assisted faculty with policy interpretation, appeals and grievances. She is currently completing her third year on the Michigan Academic Library Association Board of Directors(MiALA), having served as Vice-President, President, and Immediate Past-President.
